Part I:
This course prepares students to become Medical Coders. Medical Coders review medical records to determine diagnostic and procedural information that is then put into numerical codes. Insurance companies and third-party payers to determine reimbursement use of these codes. Topics covered will be medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, medical records, medical ethics and an overview of ICD-10-CM coding.
Part II:
This course will provide instruction in ICD-10-CM (International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) and using HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System).

This course is a great way for students to learn how to safely administer medications to patients in a skilled nursing facility.
The student must be currently listed on the NC Nurse Aide Registry to be eligible to test for the NC Medication Aide exam.

This course is for individuals whose NA I registration has expired or those that have never been listed on the NA Registry after successful completion of corses equivalent to NA training or military health care training.
Recommended to take the NA I course instead of Refresher if over 5 years since training or expired listing.
Upon satisfactory completion of the refresher course, students are eligible to register to take the NC Nurse Aide I exam. After passing both the written and skills exams students are able to request listing on the NC Nurse Aide Registry and be considered a certified nurse aide.

This course is for Certified Nursing Assistants to prepare to perform more complex skills for patients and residents regardless of the setting.
The course includes lecture, lab, and clinical learning experiences.
Upon satisfactory completion of the course and the skill/competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. In all employment settings, the listed Nurse Aide II will work under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel.

This course prepares students to draw blood specimens from patients for the purpose of testing and analyzing blood.
Duties include: maintenance of equipment used in obtaining blood specimen; use of communication skills when working with patients; selection of venipuncture sites; care of blood specimens; entry of the testing process and other clerical duties associated with the record keeping of blood tests.

Topics include: the history and fundamentals of the Pharmacy Industry, medications, inventory management, basic mathematics, anatomy; compounding; medical insurance; terminology; operations; practicum execution; and other pertinent data fields of Pharmacy.
Upon completion, students should be able to apply their skills and knowledge to the concepts and business in the career medium of Pharmacy Technician. These skill include: interpreting and filling prescriptions; understanding basic pharmacy calculations; utilizing computer systems; maintaining medication logs and forms; organizing drug activity; developing communication skills; acquiring knowledge of drug and side effects; and comprehending fundamental aspects of anatomical systems.
