Bladen Community College awards degree, diplomas, and certificates to eligible students. In order to receive a credential, potential graduates must meet certain requirements and submit appropriate graduation application.
Graduation Requirements
To be eligible for graduation, students must have completed program requirements and not owe the college any tuition, fees, or fines.
GPA – A student must have a program Grade Point Average (GPA) or 2.0 or higher to receive a degree, diploma, or certificate.
High School Transcript – An official high school transcript or equivalent must be on file, showing the date of graduation, prior to credentials being awarded.
Residence – Students must have earned at least one-fourth (25%) of the required hours in their program of study at Bladen Community College for degrees and certificates. Students must earn at least sixteen (16) of the required hours at Bladen Community College for diplomas.
Graduation Process for Degrees & Diplomas
Meet with your Student Success and Engagement Representative – students should meet with their advisor in the Student Success and Engagement Center prior to applying for graduation. Advisors check that students are on track to graduate during the academic year corresponding to the graduation ceremony. (There is only one graduation ceremony each academic year). Advisors also check that any needed course substitutions have been submitted.
Submit a Graduation Application – There is no fee due when you submit your graduation application. The highest-level credential will be printed. Additional credentials can be printed upon request for $15 each. Potential graduates should submit a Graduation Application and proof of payment to the Registrar’s Office during the appropriate time frame.
Graduation File is Evaluated – The Registrar’s Office will compile required documents needed to certify your eligibility to graduate.
Receive Notification of Graduation Status – The Registrar’s Office will send a letter informing you of your graduation status. If you are missing anything, you will be informed via mail.
Receive Credential – Bladen Community College’s graduation ceremony is held in May of each year. Degrees and diplomas are awarded in January, June, and August of each year. Fall and spring graduates will receive their credentials in the mail approximately 8 weeks after the ceremony in May.

Graduation Ceremony
Bladen Community College holds its graduation in May of each academic year. Students who follow the graduation process will receive information concerning the graduation ceremony in the mail. The ceremony is held to recognize graduates from the spring term, previous fall term, as well as the upcoming summer term. Potential summer graduates should follow the same graduation process as all other potential graduates.
Cap, Gown, and Tassel
Graduation items are ordered through Jostens, Inc. The cost of one cap, gown, and tassel is included in the graduation fee paid each semester. Cap, gown, and tassels can be ordered at: Jostens, Inc. RIGHT HERE!
Graduating with Honors
Students who graduate from their program of study with a 3.5 GPA or higher graduate with honors. Graduating with honors entitles the students to wear an honor cord during the graduation ceremony. *Students receiving any grade below a C will be excluded from graduating with honors.
