Our Student Success Story!
This is my Story!
After graduating from BCC with an Associate of Arts, Allana pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at UNC Charlotte, where she was one of two students selected for early entry into the graduate program, allowing her to graduate early with a Master of Arts in Ethics and Applied Philosophy. Her master’s thesis concentrated on the consideration of mass incarceration as a social determinant of health for black women.
Allana is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Sociology and focusing her thesis on the ethical consideration of deportation as a civil versus criminal punishment. While pursuing her degrees, she taught community college classes and is currently tutoring gifted international students. After completing her master’s degree in sociology, Allana plans to pursue a Ph.D in Sociology and then attend law school, focusing on post-conviction law.
