Fire Service Training Program Overview

Fire service training provides firefighters with essential technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed for modern firefighting and emergency response. Through a combination of classroom instruction and practical exercises, students gain expertise in fire suppression, rescue operations, equipment handling, and emergency response strategies. The program also prepares participants for certification in areas such as firefighting, rescue operations, driver/operator roles, pump and aerial operations, and fire and life safety education.

Certifications are awarded by the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) and meet state and national firefighting standards. Training is conducted both on campus and at local fire departments, ensuring real-world experience in high-intensity environments.

Students will engage in live fire simulations, rescue drills, and emergency vehicle operations, developing the critical skills necessary for careers in fire services, industrial fire safety, and emergency response management. Additional coursework in fire prevention, public safety education, and leadership roles allows for career advancement in the field.

Graduates of the program are well-equipped for roles as municipal firefighters, fire safety officers, rescue technicians, and fire inspectors, with opportunities for leadership positions such as fire captains and battalion chiefs. By blending academic study with practical application, this training ensures firefighters are fully prepared for the challenges of fire and emergency services.
