As has been our tradition, our large fundraising event is normally held in the fall of the year. But, like so many other events across the nation it had to be canceled due to the Pandemic. But that didn’t dampen our spirits and we are happy to present to you our latest endeavor…...GALA – Dinner to go.
We invite you to join us on March 13th for our event and present to you two opportunities to support the foundation efforts at the college. First is a meal opportunity. All of the particulars will be available once you click on the link below. We feel that we are truly offering a “Golden Ticket” to have the opportunity to order from our three-entrée offering and become the a “Master Chef” for the evening. So click the link and view the menu and beverage offerings.
Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of our event sponsors and our event guests. Our donor community is a diverse constituent base, much like our student body. We consider our outreach much further than Bladen County NC and our events are designed to touch a wide range of people in our local broad community.
We want to thank and recognize our 2019 Event Sponsors who are listed below. Our students want to thank you, as well, for helping to make each year more spectacular. It is our hope that we will see our 2019 sponsors supporting our new spring event as they have in the past. If you are interested in supporting the GALA – Dinner to go here is the link that will enable you to go directly online to complete a sponsorship form.
Once again, we raise our hands to salute you the consistent and strong supporters that lend their financial resources, their time and talents to us each year. With special thanks this year to our “Presenting Sponsor” BAREFOOT’S SANDWICH SHOPPE AND BREW! We truly are blessed and feel so fortunate to be able to work with all of you throughout the year, to financially bolster the quality educational opportunities which we design and create for the betterment of our students. It is always our goal to help our students to excel both academically and mentally, so that upon graduation then they are ready and well qualified to pursue their dreams.
If you should have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the Foundation Office at 910-879-5519.
Our faculty and Staff go above and beyond for our students, in so many ways. Yearly there is an all campus appeal to enable them to give directly to the foundation. They are committed to helping to make it possible for the very students that they teach to further their goals and dreams….living out the college motto…..Student Centered + Future Focused! The appeal each year takes on a different flavor which lends itself to a bit of competition amongst the on-campus employees. If any faculty and staff member would like to make a one time payment online for the All Campus Appeal you can do that by clicking here Be sure to remember to put All Campus Appeal in the additional comments section at the bottom of the page. If you wish the donation to go to a specific scholarship please make that designation appropriately. Thank you so much Faculty & Staff — You are truly supporting student success in every way!
**** Bladen Community College presents “An Evening with Kathryn and Charlie” ****
Mezzo-soprano Kathryn Findlen and pianist Charlie Magnone returned to Bladen County in 2015 to again present a program of vocal and piano works from the American Songbook. Their upcoming concert will include selections from Cole Porter to Stephen Sondheim in addition to piano classics by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.
Enthusiasts for American repertoire and collaboration with the contemporary composers behind the unique works they perform, Findlen and Magnone’s “emotionally powerful performance” (Austin American Statesmen) of Donnacha Dennehy’s, That The Night Come, was nominated for Best Symphonic Performance and awarded Best Vocal performance by the Austin Critic’s Table Awards.
Performances were held in the sanctuary of the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church with a reception following the performance. Both concerts were free.
The highlight of this event was on Friday afternoon, May 1st when Ms. Findlen and Mr. Magnone visited the Clarkton School of Discovery to do a school performance and presentation. A performance class was given to a small select group of music students from CSD. The repertoire styles that were included were Classical, Musical Theater and Pop (original or cover.) The performance class culminated with a short music program for the entire school with pieces performed by both Findlen/Magnone and select students. The students, faculty, and staff were the special guests at the evening performance.
Collaborative of Bladen Community College, Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church, and the Arts Council of Bladen County.
The college supports the Arts Council of Bladen County and any and all efforts community wide in bringing more offerings like this, as well as, establishing a “Distinguised Speakers” series here at the college in the very near future. Bladen County itself is the home to a variety of musicians and artists who are invited at any time to perform on the campus.
